How to prevent acne scars from forming on your face

So you’ve finally got rid of acne and now you’re worried about scars? Don’t be. We have the ultimate skincare routine for acne to make sure your skin stays smooth and blemish and mark free. Let’s take a look at some of the causes and cures of acne and how you can avoid acne breakouts turning into scars later on in life.

First off, what is acne? Well acne usually presents itself around the time of adolescence when our hormones go into overdrive and start to produce oil. The pores of your skin can become blocked with that oil as well as dead skin and bacteria. Every pore of your skin is part of the follicular system and a follicle has an oil gland called a sebaceous gland which produces sebum. This oil then comes out of the pore and onto your skin.

Acne is a little more than normal teenage problem skin, it can be a little more serious definitely and might need medical treatment. Even though it can also be persistent and difficult to treat, there are effective treatments out there.

The problem is that these pimples and bumps heal very slowly and when some of them die down, other problem areas crop up. If it’s a very severe case, like with inflammatory acne where there are cysts and nodules there can be scarring. This is because the spots take such a deep hold in the skin. It can be a very emotionally distressing condition. If you start treatment early you can lower your risk of scarring.

Here are some other ways you can be proactive and prevent acne scarring. Let’s take a look shall we.

Cleanse—Keeping your skin clean is important. Wash your skin twice a day with gentle, healing, cleansing products. A salicylic acid cleanser is a great way to  target and heal blemishes, people even use it in the treatment of psoriasis. It’s fantastic.

Tone—Keep your skin balanced by using a gentle astringent toner.

Target—Get a targeted dark spot and breakout product, something with niacinamide is great.

Moisturise—You have to moisturise  even though sometimes it might feel a bit strange to put something oily or creamy on skin that seems to produce so much excess oil. Look for lighter moisturisers and also  look for products like vitamin C and glycolic acid in your moisturiser.

Scrub—Do a microdermabrasion scrub three times a week at most. You shouldn’t overdo this, it really isn’t a good idea. Three times a week is plenty.

Collagen—Use ingredients with collagen. It’s very important. Skin that doesn’t produce the correct amount of collagen can be prone to those depressed scars you sometimes see on severe acne sufferers.

So there you have it folks, you really need to take extra care of acne prone skin to make sure it doesn’t scar and always seek treatment if it seems very severe. Remember spots and breakouts are a normal part of growing up.
